Ten questions I can’t wait to be answered this weekend
.) The question that’s on all Buckeye fans’ minds- which little piggy of Beanie’s is injured and is it going to the market this weekend against Ohio University? The answer is no.
.) MAC question #1: Will Michigan start the 2008 season 0-2? With a quality MAC team coming in in the form of Miami University, I’d put the chances at 50/50. Michigan is currently favored by 15. What will be interesting to watch is Miami’s defense, which is its’ strength, vs. Michigan’s offense, which proved to be horrific last week.
.) Will USC rise to “eternal #1″ in both polls after dominating their bye week this Saturday? I say yes.
.) MAC question #2: Can Central Michigan put a scare into Georgia this weekend? Georgia is favored by 24. The poor man’s Dan LeFevour (Antonio Henton) was productive last week for Georgia Southern. Central Michigan is a much better offensive team than GS and they have the real Dan LeFevour so can their defense keep the game close late into the 4th quarter? We say yes with the possibility of a stunning upset in Athens.
.) Notre Dame gets their season started this weekend (I know that’s not a question) with San Diego State coming into town. Notre Dame is favored by 21.5. I’ll give you a few minutes to compose yourself after falling out of your chair. How quickly will Notre Dame be vaulted into the top 25 after they beat the Aztecs? The answer is just a little quicker than they depart the top 25 (after they play Michigan next week).
.) MAC question #3: With another MAC team (Buffalo) coming into town, will the Wannstache lead Pittsburgh to an 0-2 start (lost to Bowling Green last week)? No, the Wannstache will avenge last week’s opener. (Pitt favored by 13.5)
.) Will the ACC rebound after a bounty of dreadful opening week performances? Of course they will- Furman @ Virginia Tech, Citadel @ Clemson, Richmond @ Virginia, Western Carolina @ Florida State, William & Mary @ NC Stateā¦plus Georgia Tech plays at Boston College which means one of them is guaranteed a win.
.) Can Cincinnati cover the spread against Oklahoma this weekend (22 points)? They can and they will- OU by 20.
.) Fun fact (in place of a question): As Florida and Miami renew their vows/rivalry this Saturday, did you know Florida hasn’t defeated Miami in 23 years (1985)? Short of Tim Tebow “Beanie-ing” one of his glorious appendages, the Gators will end that streak.
.) Will I be able to come up with ten questions next week? Answer: Of course. The games next week are much better.
You’re welcome.
