Gone Beanie Gone
According to an AP report, Beanie Wells released a statement today that he is declaring for the 2009 NFL draft. Definitely not a surprise, but his absence from the 2009 Buckeyes will be equally as big as his absence from the 2008 version.
Beanie leaves as the 4th best running back in OSU history, at least by yardage. Wells will finish with 3,382 yards, just 171 yards behind # 3 Tim Spencer and only 286 yards behind # 2 Eddie George. Wells also leaves on the table a Heisman, the Doak Walker award, and a possible National Championship. So much for sentimentality of history; I suppose $6-$7 million per year makes one more sentimental than posterity and history. Hard to argue.
