SNL on Obama

October 5th, 2009 by Red Renee

This is worth a watch, if for no other reason to refute the notion that Saturday Night Live only puts up Liberal skits. Enjoy:

Quotable Quotes

October 1st, 2009 by Red Renee

You can’t handle the truth
Can you handle the truth? I’m pretty sure I can’t…

Wherever the 2016 Olympics are, party it up because here’s a newsflash- global warming will end the Olympics as we know it. Feel free to use the pick-up line “there’s an Olympic Village in my pants, where are you staying?” I’m sure it’ll work amongst all the hysteria. From Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara:

“It could be that the 2016 Games are the last Olympics in the history of mankind. Global warming is getting worse. We have to come up with measures without which Olympic Games could not last long.”

I had no idea global warming had turned into a Y2K-type issue. I guess I should have been listening more closely to Al Gore after all.

And to be filed in the folder “Holy shit, the French are tougher on global thugs than we are”, holy shit, the French are tougher on global thugs than we are:

“We supported President Obama’s extended hand to Iran’s leaders, but this hand cannot remain extended indefinitely with leaders who do not respond. Meanwhile, the centrifuges keep on turning.”

That quote was from French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and yes he’s lecturing Obama on global security. That’s how quickly Obama has eroded the United States’ strength globally, the French are telling us what to do. God save the Republic.

You’re welcome.

National Keep Your Kids Home From School Day

September 3rd, 2009 by Red Renee

Obama Statue

September 8th, noon Eastern. That’s the day and time that President Obama will deliver an address directly to school children across the United States. The address is meant to address “…persisting and succeeding in school.” Sounds harmless enough on the surface until you read the “teaching points” the Department of Education has distributed to teachers.

Here are a couple of excerpts from the K-6 teaching guide:

“Why is it important to listen to the president and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?”

“What new ideas and actions is the president challenging me to think about?”

“What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?”

And from the 7-12 teaching guide:

“Teachers may engage students in short readings. Teachers may post in large print around the classroom notable quotes excerpted from President Obama’s speeches on education. Teachers could ask students to think about the following: Based on these excerpts, what can we infer that the president believes is important in order to be educationally successful?”

“Teachers may ask students to think of the following: Why does president Obama want to speak to us today? How will he inspire us? Do you remember any other historic moments when the president spoke to the nation?”

I suppose the next step is putting busts or statues of Obama in each school and asking students to pray to it each morning. It’s starting to feel a little like Cuba around here.

Given Obama’s scheduled speech to a joint session of Congress, expect Obama to also use this captive audience of kids to push Obamacare- what a perfect way to do it with young, impressionable audience and a largely liberal educator base.

God help the Republic.

Undercover Brother

If you haven’t seen this yet, it’s quite entertaining. From hotair.com, an undercover conservative doing his best “Triumph the dog” impersonation at some sort of Democrat training session. Good stuff; enjoy:

Cash for Clunkers Numbers

August 10th, 2009 by Red Renee

Money Tree

With the Cash for Clunkers program getting an additional infusion of $2 billion last week, I thought it might be interesting to look at actual taxpayer impact for the program.

Before I get to the numbers, here’s a “did you know” for you: Did you know $50 million was allocated for administration of the cash for clunkers program. That’s $50 million to manage a short-term (ends November, 2009) mostly paper process. I don’t know why that kind of waste doesn’t piss more taxpayers off, but it should. I’ll volunteer to manage the next round of the program for $10 million and then retire with the remaining $40 million on some island.

Now to the numbers.

*$3 billion of total allocation to the program, $2,850,000,000 net if you assume $150 million for “administration”.

*If you assume $4,000 average per recipient (average of $4,500 and $3,500 stipends), that’s 712,500 people that will benefit from yours and mine generosity.

*According to the most recent tax statistics, there are 138 million tax filers in the United States. If you subtract the aforementioned 712,500 from that number, that leaves a net of 137,287,500 taxpayers left to pay the bill for the $3 billion program.

*If you divide the $3 billion by the 137 million or so taxpayers, you get an individual or family contribution of $21.85 for the program. $22 doesn’t sound like a lot but how would you feel if you got shorted $20 on a withdrawal from your bank. Or how about if you got overcharged $22 on your groceries.

What does it all mean?

I’m not benefiting from the program, neither are my neighbors; chances are yours aren’t either. What it means is that my neighborhood (which is a small one) consisting of about 150 homes is pooling their money together to fund a new car for somebody. And so is the neighborhood next to ours, and so on, and so on.

Now consider the hard numbers regarding impact to the auto industry. Congress would have you believe that the Cash for Clunkers is a lifeline- salvation for a struggling industry. In reality, it’s little more than another wealth redistribution scheme (see prior paragraph).

2008 U.S. auto sales was 13.2 million, 3 million off the 16 million from 2007. Assuming all 712,500 Cash for Clunkers sales are incremental and not already planned purchases (a false assumption to be sure), that figure represents only a 5.4% boost to annual sales based on 2008 figures. If you use the 16 million from 2007, that’s only a 4.4% increase. Considering sales look to be off 20-30% that’s hardly the type of salvation the industry needs.

What the auto industry needs is a healthy, vibrant economy free from government interference. Unfortunately what they’re getting is scraps and handouts and false economic theory. And a short term boost that I fear will end up doing more harm than good to the industry itself.

But by all means- enjoy your new car. And my $22.

You’re welcome.

Another case for limited government

August 5th, 2009 by Red Renee

Set aside whatever social differences you may have with Conservatives- abortion, gay rights, defense, death penalty, illegal immigration, etc. Do that and then watch this video.

After watching, justify to me why the buffoons in Washington exerting ever greater control over your life is a good thing. I dare you. Even the most intellectual Liberal elite can’t justify more power and control in the hands of these people- that’s why all politicians, left, right, and middle, resort to scare tactics.

May God have mercy on the Republic.

You’re welcome.

Backpedaling like the front wheel’s on fire…

August 3rd, 2009 by Red Renee

Y’all remember those comfy assurances then candidate Obama gave about not raising taxes on any Americans except the evil ones that are successful?

Funny enough- we’re all already paying higher taxes since he stepped into office, but the real fun is around the corner- thanks to drunken Social spending and as forewarned by Tim Geithner in this gem.

I don’t suggest eating anything before, during, or shortly after you watch this. Wretching to commence shortly:

You’re welcome.

Uhhhhhhhhhh…….

August 3rd, 2009 by Red Renee

Thrusting radical Socialism down the throats of Americans works until people wake up. Looks like Americans are finally starting to get it and I couldn’t be prouder.

Here’s some of the coverage from Philly this weekend where Kathleen Sibelius and Arlen Specter get completely nailed. As ugly as the scene is, I’m shocked they actually stuck around to answer questions. They sputter and spew but can’t come up with real answers to the statements and questions made/posed by the crowd.

Enjoy:

You’re welcome.

Putting Barbara in her place

July 23rd, 2009 by Red Renee

Tough week for race relations what with the debacle between the Harvard professor and the Cambridge Police, and of course this delightful exchange.

I’ve made my disdain for Barbara Boxer very public and obviously I’m delighted by the responses of Mr. Harry Alford in this exchange. The Democrats are engaged in a full frontal assault of race and class warfare and they should be called out on it much more frequently. Bravo to you Mr. Alford.

You’re welcome.

The Ted Card

July 22nd, 2009 by Red Renee

Ted Kennedy
AP Photo

As further proof that Team Obama is in big trouble with Obamacare, the dems played the Ted card this weekend. Senator Ted Kennedy came out with an extensive piece in Newsweek pushing support of Obamacare. It’s more of the same from the dems- scare tactics, political double-talking, and misdirection.

The misdirection must be particularly effective because they keep using it to rush bills through Congress. They continue to insist that the Republicans are for the “status quo” which couldn’t be further from the truth. And despite Republicans offering contrary views and plans, the line continues to get played.

Not that the Ted card is any different than the Republicans trotting out maligned Canadians and having them talk about how socialized medicine resulted in their stutter, but it clearly shows Obama’s promise of a different kind of politics was nothing but hot air.

You’re welcome.

Auto-tune the News

July 14th, 2009 by Red Renee

I don’t know how to describe this video but I find it remarkably compelling. Despite my best efforts, I can’t stop watching it. It’s more musically complex than nearly any pop song on the radio and has so much going on visually you’ve got to watch at least three times to catch it all. Enjoy:

$18 million facelift

July 10th, 2009 by Red Renee

Money Tree

$17,948,518 to be exact. That’s a facelift number that would make Joan Rivers blush (if the blood vessels in her face still worked that way).

As part of the stimulus package, a website was required to be created so that taxpayers could monitor the debt as it piled up day by day. That website is Recovery.gov. The website is operational; it’s fancy; in fact it’s far more complex and costly than this very website you’re reading right now (hard to believe, I know).

All Recovery.gov really needs to be is a couple of headlines and then a downloadable Excel file with all the stimulus spending data in it (Visicalc or Lotus 1-2-3 files for MAC users).

Instead, and as further proof that government shouldn’t be trusted with much more than changing a toilet paper roll, the GSA announced yesterday that they’ve awarded an $18 million contract to revamp the Recovery.gov website.

“Recovery.gov 2.0 will use innovative and interactive technologies to help taxpayers see where their dollars are being spent,” said James A. Williams, Commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service. “Armed with easy access to this information, taxpayers can make government more accountable for its decisions.”

Memo to Mr. Williams- thank you for letting us see where our dollars are being spent- $18 million on a website. That’s clarity. I can only hope that “Moderate and/or Fake Conservative Voter 2.0″ will vote a Republican into office in 2012.

You’re welcome.

Shovel-ready and other fantastic tales

July 8th, 2009 by Red Renee

Tax Man

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) came out with their second report on the now 5-month old $787 billion stimulus package, and the headline is “pennies and lies”.

I might be a little fuzzy on the details, but I’m pretty sure President Obama didn’t promise 63% of the stimulus money to Medicaid and 13% to state budget stabilization. But that’s exactly how the spending has broken out so far:

63% to Medicaid
13% to State Fiscal Stabilization Fund
6% to Highways
5% to Other selected programs
13% to Other programs not in study

That’s all on top of projections that less than 25% of the stimulus money will get spent by year end. So much for shovel ready.

Regarding highway projects- the ones frequently touted as the big job-creators- as of June 25th, the Department of Transportation had obligated a mere $9.2 billion for projects and had reimbursed an even more minute $96.4 million.

$96.4 million sounds like a lot of money but to keep it in perspective, it’s only .012% of the total stimulus pot. That’s less than 1/8th of 1 percent.

Other cautions from the GAO report include a concern that auditing requirements in place don’t appropriately address the spending risk and that the federal website set up to monitor federal spending via non-federal entities uses unreliable data. So much for transparency and government accountability.

If you’re interested in reading the full GAO report, click here.

You’re welcome.

Stuart Smalley goes to Washington

July 8th, 2009 by Red Renee

Making a further mockery of our Democracy, and thanks to the good people of Minnesota, Stuart Smalley is now a United States Senator.

The House of Representatives is one thing- there are plenty of space eaters in that body. The U.S. Senate is an entirely different matter- supposedly reserved for the political professionals and the Presidential candidate bullpen.

Even more significant is the now filibuster-free majority the Dems have courtesy of Senator Smalley (and the traitors that abandoned the Republican party). That means what was a mockery of alleged bipartisanship will now be a full out left-wing groping at the hands of Pelosi/Reed/Boxer & Co.

May God have mercy on our Republic.

You’re welcome.

Calling a spade a spade

July 6th, 2009 by Red Renee

Joe Biden

For all the precision of Team Obama, they still can’t keep JoeJoe of the Bidens under lock and key. The latest installment of JoeJoe has him admitting the assumptions that formed the basis of their entire economic plan were faulty. Don’t take my word for it; here’s his quote:

“The figures we worked off of in January were the consensus figures and most of the blue chip indexes out there; We misread how bad the economy was.”

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer echoed the sentiments saying (the Democrats are) “disappointed with the results so far.”

Time to throw some more money at the problem fellas.

You’re welcome.

Coming to their senses

July 2nd, 2009 by Red Renee

More evidence that people are starting to sober up from their Obama haze, even octogenarian Helen Thomas is asking about the staged nature of Obama’s town halls and pointing out the lack of transparency from an administration that campaigned on a foundation of transparency.

Ms. Thomas, in case you need reminded, has a history of pro-Obamism, and an equal history of anti-Bushism. This video is evidence she might be turning in her hand-knit “Silver Foxes 4 Obama” sweater. Such a pity. And memo to President Obama- please keep Robert Gibbs in place for the remainder of your term- excellence in jackassery has never been better on display. Bravo.

Mission Accomplished!

July 2nd, 2009 by Red Renee

Mission Accomplished

President Bush was (and still is) much maligned for the image above. Not to be outdone, President Obama had his mission accomplished moment this week declaring that the stimulus plan has worked. I totally get how he thinks the stimulus is working- what with the jobless rate at a 26-year high and wages dropping. I’m feeling you dog.

Public opinion seems to be slowly turning but for those of you still on the fence- you’re being swindled and lied to. You may have been afraid of right-wing extremists taking over the government under Bush, but the left-wing extremists that are hurtling America toward communism should concern you far more. Time to wake up folks.

You’re welcome.

The name’s Barbara; and it’s Ma’am if you’re nasty

June 19th, 2009 by Red Renee

I don’t hide it well. I dislike Barbara Boxer greatly. She represents the worst breed of politicians- elitist, arrogant, and ultra liberal. And try as they might, the true colors of people like Ms. Boxer always come out eventually. Unfortunately for Ms. Boxer, her true colors are on display frequently.

The latest installment has her undressing a Brigadier General in a Senate hearing. Each installment from her is more distasteful than the previous. Bravo ma’am.

MSNBC Daytime: Sluttier than ever!

June 19th, 2009 by Red Renee

Unfortunately, this is what passes for anchor work on MSNBC these days. Contessa Brewer, in a very inappropriate and personal manner, strongly defends David Letterman’s comments last week about Sarah Palin and her daughter.

Brewer references her own public experience of being called a slut in the clip- evidence of which I can’t find anywhere on the internet. The only item I could pull up was a semi-public feud between Ms. Brewer and Don Imus, where Imus referred to Brewer as, among other things, a “skank”.

I don’t have a thesaurus handy but I’m willing to bet “slut” and “skank” are of the same etymology. But boy Contessa thinks a lot of herself- comparing her “scenario” as a former news reader for Don Imus to a sitting Governor that was on the Republican ticket as candidate for Vice President of the United States. Yep- that’s the same.

You’d think of all the people in the media, Contessa Brewer would be most sympathetic to Sarah Palin’s experience given her similar (not the same) experience. I suppose skanks don’t feel sympathy though. Oh snap.

You’re welcome.

Frank…..Out

June 12th, 2009 by Red Renee

That darn ugly side of the far left keeps rearing its’ ugly head. Fortunately for them, voters aren’t really paying attention. Witness complete douche Barney Frank throwing yet another hissy fit on air (first video- credit MichelleMalkin.com). Second video displays him again in rare form using his best condescending tone on a Bloomberg reporter. What an ass.

Oh to be so smart…..

Friend for Change

June 11th, 2009 by Red Renee

Project Green

If you’ve got kids and watch the Disney channel 2 or 20 hours a day, you’ve seen the spots about their “Friends for Change” program. The gist of the program is young Disney celebs are banding together to encourage viewers to behave in an environmentally responsible way.

The project focuses on habitat, waste, water and …..wait for it…….climate.

Now I’m all for living responsibly, and we teach our kids to do that, but I cannot stand for the Disney channel pushing environmental extremism on unsuspecting children. They’re clearly taking advantage of the hold they have over the 14 and under set, and this blog won’t take that laying down.

According to the press release “Kids will also help determine how Disney will donate $1 million to environmental organizations over the course of a year to plant trees, preserve the rainforest, help endangered animals and support alternative energy among other causes.”

It’s in this spirit that I’m happy to announce our “Friend for Change” program (intentionally singular). I am putting up $10 (ten dollars U.S.) to be directed toward an environmentally unfriendly activity based on comments from you. Leave my car idling for 1/2 an hour, turn on all the lights in the house during the daytime, shout insults at the trees in my yard (with the $10 bill in my pocket), or something else entirely. It’s up to you. Leave your suggestions in the comments.

You’re welcome.

Gigantic Remorseless Double-Talking Gonads

June 9th, 2009 by Red Renee

Entered into evidence as exhibit 122,541 of why Obama is such a brilliant politician was today’s announcement of “Pay as you go”. After months of spending like a drunken sailor, President Obama decided to nooowwwww throw out the notion that it’s time to show restraint, calling for a legislated pay-as-you-go policy for future spending bills. I’m stunned at the bullshit he gets away with, but that’s what happens when you’re more popular than Twinkies.

Here’s the video of the “announcement” today plus Peter Orszag chipping in (second video). It’s worth noting that Orszag doesn’t possess the aforementioned gigantic gonads, but rather a smaller set of mathematical double-talking gonads.

You’re welcome.

A Simple Question for a Challenging Problem

June 2nd, 2009 by Red Renee

Tax Man

Obama’s greatest skill is his ability to persuade the American public to support wildly left programs without really explaining any of the details.

Take health care for example- Obama was again today on the campaign trail talking about his trillion dollar socialized health care program. He focused his remarks around the statement that America needs health care reform. That’s the beauty of what he does- Democrats, Republicans, Independents alike will likely all agree some reform is needed. The devil is in the details and the details are what people should care about (but don’t pay attention to).

For all of you that support a single-payer government run health care system, answer the following question: what historical evidence makes you think the government can fix health care?

Before you answer that question, consider the following: globally as a percentage of GDP, the United States far and away spends more on healthcare than any other nation. Current estimates put our health care spending at approximately 15% of GDP with projections at 20% by the year 2017.

Current figures (1st is bad):
1.) United States - 15.2%
7.) Germany - 10.9%
13.) France - 9.7%
15.) Canada - 9.6%
18.) Australia - 9.5%
43.) Japan - 7.9%
47.) U.K. - 7.7%
50.) Spain -7.6%
85.) Mexico - 6.1%
97.) China - 5.8%

Again- reasonable minds would agree the above figures are a problem. We’re trending toward 20% while most countries are less than half that. The difference of opinion is how to affect change, but for most Americans, they simply glaze over just past the headline of “health care reform is needed”.

The kind of reform we need is not government control- government adds costly redundant layers, gross waste, and little to no oversight. The kind of reform this country really needs is limits on malpractice suits, better preventative care through insurance incentives, Americans taking it upon themselves to live healthier lives, and fixing the programs already in place. We can’t fix health care without fixing Medicare and Medicaid first.

You’re welcome.

A Great Life Story, Empathy, and Whatnot

May 27th, 2009 by Red Renee

In 1788 Alexander Hamilton wrote:

“A Constitution is, in fact, and must be regarded by the judges, as a fundamental law. It therefore belongs to them to ascertain its meaning, as well as the meaning of any particular act proceeding from the legislative body. If there should happen to be an irreconcilable variance between the two, that which has the superior obligation and validity ought, of course, to be preferred; or, in other words, the Constitution ought to be preferred to the statute.”

That statement is in stark contrast to the bloviating wussification seen in the video below (from Politico.com). The role of Supreme Court Justices is to interpret the Constitution of the United States. Period.
